Brian Camire named “Cannabis Law Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal

Weedmaps General Counsel, Brian Camire, has been recognized by The National Law Journal as a 2022 Cannabis Law Trailblazer. Camire was chosen for the award based on his critical role helping WM Technology become a publicly traded company on Nasdaq in 2021.
“Having WM Technology, a company that serves cannabis end markets, trading on a major United States securities exchange helps provide much needed legitimacy to the industry,” Camire said. “Our hope is that the transparency of our data and platforms, coupled with the size and legitimacy of our company will help open doors for capital investment across the industry at large.”
Brian joined Weedmaps as General Counsel in May 2019. He previously spent four years as Associate General Counsel at Snapchat. Much of his career has been focused on helping tech companies get the capital needed to grow and innovate — an even bigger challenge once he joined Weedmaps.
“My goal when joining the company was to bring the knowledge and experience I gained representing traditional technology companies to an industry that historically hasn’t had access to the same tools that power the rest of the tech world,” Camire said. “My hope is the visibility and success of WM Technology will attract more lawyers to the cannabis industry.”
This is the fourth consecutive year The National Law Journal has released a list recognizing legal professionals in the cannabis space. The publication launched the cannabis-specific list to “shine a light on those who have taken extra measures to contribute positive outcomes” within their industry.
